Information for Professionals

Welcome to the landing page for resources which clinicians and other professionals in the perinatal community might find helpful.

From here you can navigate to national guidelines and pathways, many of which were produced by or co-produced with the Scottish Perinatal Network (SPN). We also host regional neonatal guidelines and regional neonatal drug monographs.

The Scottish Perinatal Network is made up of the National Neonatal Network and National Maternity Network. These two networks were established in 2019 and 2020 respectively, following recommendations in The Best Start published in 2017.

Together we aim to encourage collaboration across maternity and neonatal care services and supports the best possible outcomes for mothers, babies, fathers and partners and their wider families.

Person-centred, safe and high quality care for mothers and babies throughout pregnancy, birth and following birth can have a marked effect on the health and life chances of women and babies and on the healthy development of children throughout their lives.

As a Strategic Network we work with perinatal healthcare professionals to identify best practice, share learning, and reduce unhelpful variation in care across the 14 regional Health Boards.
